New Boardercross And Carpet Lift At Stoneham (07-Nov-10)

Stoneham in Quebec is close to the famous Quebec City, North America’s oldest....

Stoneham in Quebec is close to the famous Quebec City, North America’s oldest, and sister resort of bigger and internationally better known Mont Sainte Anne nearby. Although smaller, It’s well worth a visit for a day or two when you’re in the area. The area has Canada’s largest night skiing and boarding operation and a fearsome reputation for après ski too.

For a second consecutive year Stoneham has concentrated on mountain improvements and the ski area has installed a second magic carpet lift in the beginner zone.

The addition of this new beginner’s lift will provide a safe and easy access to the whole learning area at the base of the mountain. Measuring 140m, the magic carpet can carry up to 1,500 people per hour, virtually eliminating waiting times for this lift.

“With the acquisition of lifts for beginners, our resorts are a step closer to their mission; making an introduction to skiing and snowboarding enjoyable for all.” said a Stoneham spokesperson.

In addition a boardercross course will be built in the “Short Cut” section of the resort’s existing terrain park and the beginner’s snow park, located in the “La familiale” run will be doubled in size.
