New Artificial Ski Slope Planned For Polish Capital (01-Jun-11)

A landfill site at Radiowo, close to the centre of Poland’s capital, Warsaw, is in line to be converted in to a year round extreme sports venue.

The site is scheduled to be closed by 2014 and it is hoped the new facility will be open by 2017.

The plans include a permanent half pipe and a year-round artificial surface slope within the 80 metre deep site – a slope descending over that big would be one of the world’s largest.

Four other similar sites in Poland have already been converted to ‘similar facilities’ including one at Szczesliwice, also in Warsaw, and another within the Malta district in the city of Poznan.
