Mt Baw Baw's 1st Big Air Competition (30-Jul-09)

Mt Baw Baw, Australia, July 30, 2009 - Mount Baw Baw is proud to announce its inaugural Big Air

Mount Baw Baw is proud to announce its inaugural Big Air competition, August 1st at 2pm on Hut Roll.

Over the next few nights, Baw Baw’s Snow Grooming Manager is aiming to push together a massive ‘cheese wedge’ kicker, located on Hut Roll.

“We have been snow farming for the past week, to ensure that we’ve got plenty of snow” says Mt Baw Baw Canadian Groomer driver, Yull Estby.

The kicker will definitely be a sight to behold, our contestants will tackle it head on, launching themselves high into the air towards the anticipated crowd, showing no fear. Mt Baw Baw is expecting the riders to pull some MASSIVE tricks, in the hopes of impressing our panel of judges.

The riders will be showing their stuff, some throwing huge backside 9’s, 1080s, Flairs, back and front flips, spread eagles and hopefully much more to keep the crowd on the edge of their seats!

Matrix snowboards will be sponsoring the 1st Big Air contest at Mt Baw Baw.

“Matrix is a new Aussie company doing some sweet designs” says Mel Mawley, Mt Baw Baw Events Coordinator.

Matrix will be attending the event to scout for new riders to sponsor, so amateur and developing snowboarders (who are confident and competent) are encouraged to enter and take advantage of this opportunity!

Matrix will be giving cash and boards to the winners and will be looking to give full sponsorships to a few riders if they really impress on the day. Each athlete will be judged on various criteria such as technicality of trick by expert judges. There will be an open and junior division. Entries so far include a past winner of the Battle at Baw Baw, and there will also be riders from Matrix competing on the day.

Mt Baw Baw will set the perfect atmosphere for a professional snowboarding competition with groomer, Yull on hand during the competition to ensure that this fantastic feature is in top shape.
