More Snowmaking For Hemsedal (18-Jul-11)

Snowmaking facilities at Hemsedal, Norway’s leading ski centre...

Snowmaking facilities at Hemsedal, Norway’s leading ski centre, are set to be expanded again this winter.

By the beginning of the 2011/2012 season, two more of the resort’s slopes will have snow guns, and slopes with artificial snow as a base will increases by 17% to just over 21 km.

The slopes are Veslebreidalen (slope 16) from the top of Tinden, and Holdeskarløypa (slope 32) will get snow guns this season. This means that so long as temperatures drop as usual it will be an earlier start to the season of Tinden with opportunities for skiing in blue and green slopes from 1444m above sea level down to the bottom at 640mn – a vertical drop of over 800 metres.

In addition to the new snowmaking the Veslebreidalen and Holdeskarløypa pistes will be significantly improved and broadened.
