Meet Olympic And World Champions At Coronet Peak (13-Aug-09)

Coronet Peak, New Zealand, August 13, 2009 - Some of the great ski champions of the world will sign

Some of the great ski champions of the world will sign posters and pose for photos for Wakatipu youth this Sunday (August 16) on the deck at Coronet Peak.

From 12pm, the USA Mens and Womens teams and the Canadian Womens team will meet and greet visitors to the deck.

“This is a great opportunity to meet and mix with the best male and female alpine ski racers in the world,” said Richard Murphy, Head of Race and Events at CoronetPeak.

“These guys have been ripping over in Rocky Gully for the past week and are truly amazing to watch.”

The women’s team includes alpine skiing overall winner and double world champion from 2009, Lindsey Vonn who will be joined by Olympic Gold Medalist from Torino, Julia Mancuso. The USA Men will be led by combines Olympic Gold Medalist in Torino Ted Ligety, alongside Jimmy Cochran, Scott Macartney and Marco Sullivan from the Tech and Speed Teams. Many of these people will be on the deck on Sunday.

The teams are all currently training at Coronet Peak in the lead-up to the Winter Games.
