Mammoth Opens 10 Days Early (03-Nov-08)

A powerful storm hit California’s Eastern Sierra over the weekend dropping up to 45cm (18 inches) of snow on Mammoth Mountain. By late Sunday, resort operators made the decision to open the slopes for skiing and riding today, Monday, November 3rd, 10 days prior to schedule.

Mammoth’s high elevation and a firm commitment to the pursuit of playing big will pay off for skiers and snowboarders when Broadway Express opens at 9am (4-5pm European time)on a base of 6-12 inches (15-30cm). A combination of natural and manmade snow will greet riders for the first day on the slopes in California.

Special early season lift tickets are priced at $52 for adult, $39 for teens and $26 for children and seniors. First Tracks packages including lift tickets and lodging are available for as low as $99 per person per night based on double occupancy.

Mammoth joins Loveland and Arapahoe Basin in Colorado which opened several weeks ago, and Killington in Vermont and Sunday River in Maine, which along with several smaller US resorts have opened in the past few days.
