Valmorel, France, March 5, 2009 - 8 of 52 lifts at Valmorel ski area
8 of 52 lifts at Valmorel ski area in France were operational last week after a strike by lift operators hit the resort for a reported 36 hours.
The lift personnel refused to work whilst demanding better pay and improved conditions for working on Sundays.
Tour operators chartered busses to nearby skiresorts and others claimed refunds from the resort, although postings on web message boards indicated many were unhappy with losing 25% of their ski holiday week.
The workers are reported to have returned to work after accepting an offer from the resort operators.
