Last Chance For Treble Cone (01-Oct-09)

Wanaka, New Zealand, October 1, 2009 - Closing weekend is upon us

Closing weekend is upon us after what many have called the best winter in the past ten years. Treble Cone will be open top to bottom with the deepest base depths in the Southern Lakes and will be celebrating with a Fancy Dress Day, Slush Cup, music and their Spring Fiesta food and drink specials.

“This has been a phenomenal winter,” said Antony Hansen Spokesman for Treble Cone. “We will be closing with nearly full access to all our terrain and with recent snow, conditions couldn’t be better for this time of year. The base we currently have exceeds average mid-winter base depths, making this weekend one not to miss.”

The vibe has been really positive up at Treble Cone so far this season. Locals have been taking part in the great skiing and après scene every afternoon. Free learner’s lifts coupled with great value in seasons and spring passes, Treble Cone has re-engaged everyone from beginners to experts in the local community.

Anyone in the know already has their outfit planned for this closing day. Sunday will be no different from the past as the crowds turn up dressed for the occasion. The slush cup will be held adjacent to the Platter Lift from 1:00 onwards where skiers and riders will charge across an icy pool of water with fans to egg them on.

This weekend will be the last opportunity for a lot of alpine enthusiasts to ski and ride at Treble Cone before next June.

With the South Island’s largest vertical descent, the most terrain and longest groomed trails, Treble Cone is New Zealand’s premier alpine resort. 360 degree views of the snow capped Southern Alps, the brilliant blue Lake Wanaka and the rugged Central Otago landscape make this one of the most memorable views of any global resort. Situated on the edge of Lake Wanaka, Treble Cone has established itself as a mecca for all snow enthusiasts both locally and abroad.
