Jackson Opens over 3000 Vertical This Saturday (22-Nov-11)

Following a dramatic weekend of big snowfall

Following a dramatic weekend of big snowfall in the Tetons where over 30 inches of snow fell in the last storm, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) announced plans today for one of the biggest and earliest openings in the history of the mountain. From this Saturday, (November 26), Jackson Hole will be offering over 3000 vertical feet of skiing by opening the Bridger Gondola, Thunder Chairlift, the New Marmot Lift and Casper, Après Vous and Teewinot. Beginner through to expert skiers will find plenty of skiing from opening day.                          Jackson hole 2011

Over 74 inches, or 6.25 feet of snow has fallen so far this year at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, which has received the most snow of any major resort in the Rockies. In much the way that last year’s record breaking snow begun, la Niña is producing generous snowfall and favorable forecasts for Jackson, and the forecast for the coming week could spell a lot more snow before opening day on Saturday.
