It May Be May But Lake Tahoe's Only 22-Foot Halfpipe Has Opened (08-May-11)

Lake Tahoe’s only 22-foot halfpipe is now open to the general public.....

Lake Tahoe’s only 22-foot halfpipe is now open to the general public at Squaw Valley USA. Located in Mainline off the Siberia chairlift, the 22-foot superpipe was built by Snow Park Technologies (SPT), who are well known for their work in the X-Games and the Dew Tour.

The superpipe, which stands 22 feet tall and 600 feet long, will be open to the public this weekend to May 8th from 10am to 12pm and then from 1pm to 3pm daily. The pipe will be maintained daily and cut nightly to guarantee a surface for maximum performance.

Squaw Valley USA’s superpipe was originally built by Snow Park Technologies (SPT) as a Red Bull training center for elite athletes and friends including Greg Bretz, Elena Hight, Kaya Turski, Simon Dumont, Bobby Brown and Louie Vito. Squaw Valley’s Red Bull Training Grounds, designed to promote athlete performance development, was where Bobby Brown threw freeskiing’s first-ever triple cork 1440 last month.
