It Feels Like Minus 13.1C At Falls Creek (Actual Minus 4.5C) According To www.weatherzone.com.au (28-Apr-08)

FALLS CREEK, VIC, APRIL 28, 2008 - A vigerous cold front has transformed Victoria's largest alpine resort into a mid-winter, picture-postcard winter wonderland

A vigerous cold front has transformed Victoria's largest alpine resort into a mid-winter, picture-postcard winter wonderland with a blanket of 20cm of snow. And more (snow) is forecast over the next 24 hours.

Yesterday's wild weather allowed skiers to make their first turns of the winter season at Falls Creek. Overnight the mercury plummeted well below zero (minus 4.6C) and it is a very chilly morning with the maximum temperature predicted to reach zero

Mother Nature is sending a signal to the snow bunnies who are anticipating an early, snowy, start to the winter it could be, as predicted, similar to 2000 when alpine resorts such as Falls Creek opened the ski lifts two weeks before the traditional start to the season on Queen's Birthday.

The phones will be running hot this morning at the Falls Creek-based reservation centres and travel agents throughout Australia when the evidence of yesterday's snowfalls is gaining momentum thanks to the footage sent to all the major media TV networks, national newspapers (page 5 in this Morning's Australian) and snow-related websites.
