Intrawest Sell Another Resort (01-Jun-10)
Canada, June 1, 2010 - Owners of two of Canada's
Intrawest, the owners of Canada’s two most popular resorts – Whistler on the West Coast and Tremblant on the East, and formerly 10 other resorts in North America and Europe, has sold another, Mountain Creek in New Jersey.
The company had owned Mountain Creek since 1998, it’s the latest resort sold by Intrawest following its disposal of Arc 1950 in les Arcs and a resort development in Flaine, France, as well as Panorama in Canada and Winter Park in Colorado.
Mountain Creek has been purchased by Eugene Mulvihill, a local leisure property owner operator, and his partners who is reported to have plans to bring van indoor water park to the resort, among other development plans.
The resort is the only ski area within one hour of New York City and is in the same state that has built, but not yet opened, North America’s first indoor snow centre.
Intrawest still fully or partially owns or operates seven major ski areas. Besides Whistler and Tremblant these include Stratton in Vermont, Snowshoe in West Virginia, Squaw Valley in California, Steamboat and Copper Mountain in Colorado, and Blue Mountain in Ontario.
