Whistler, B.C. – Intersection is the newest exciting event to be added to the incredible TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival line-up. Taking the core components of this epic 10 day festival; snow sports, music and arts, and filling a niche market for action sports filmmaking, Intersection is the ultimate filmmaking event for action sports companies. A number of filmmaking snow sports groups were contacted about a show of interest, and six teams have subsequently been invited, and each immediately awarded $1000, to compete in this incredible new competition. Teams are provided with 7 days, from Tuesday April 12th to April 19th, to produce a 5-7 minute short film, whilst staying with a few specific parameters. Included in the prerequisites, the film must be shot within 100km of Whistler Blackcomb, all footage must be recorded within that 7 day span, 30 seconds must be in-bound Whistler Blackcomb terrain, 30 seconds must be terrain park footage, and 75% of the entire film must be on-snow. The films will be shown at a public ticketed event on Wednesday April 20th, where the Grand Prize Winning Team will walk, or ski, away with a mind-blowing $15,000 in cash and prizes. http://www.wssf.com/event/intersection

TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival’s two other film-based events, the 72hr Filmmaker Showdown (http://www.wssf.com/event/72hr-filmmaker-showdown) and Film 10 (http://www.wssf.com/event/film-10-screening-awards-gala), a celebration of the decade long aforementioned Filmmaker Showdown, are set to be incredible showcases of artistic talent. The adrenaline filled 3 day challenge that is the Filmmaker Showdown is upping the ante by awarding double the 2010 prize money for Best in Show. A remarkable $10,000 has been allocated for first prize and solidifies the Filmmaker Showdown as an event far beyond child’s-play. This is the real deal. And to celebrate the leaps and bounds that Filmmaker Showdown has made in its 10 year lifetime, a new event, Film 10 emerges. Event Producer Lilli Clark says “Film 10 will be a chance for us to recognise the gems of our flagship film event on this substantial anniversary. With Filmmaker Showdown already sold out, Film 10 is sure to be the go-to event for film buffs and media fans!” Awarding $4500 in prizes to Best Performance, Best Use of Prop, Best Visual Effects, Best Stunts, Best Cinematography, Best Costumes, and more, Film 10 will be a nostalgic and side-splitting night of memories and mayhem not to be missed!
