Husky Energy And Resorts Of The Canadian Rockies Support Healthy, Active Lifestyles With Grade 2 Funpass (01-Dec-09)

Fernie, British Columbia, December 1, 2009 - Husky Energy and Resorts of the Canadian Rockies

Husky Energy and Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) are pleased to once again present the Husky Grade 2 FunPassTM program.  Now in its seventh year, the program provides young British Columbians with a complimentary Season Pass valid at Western Canadian RCR ski resorts. The program offers the opportunity for youth to learn and build their skiing and snowboarding skills, while encouraging a healthy, active, family lifestyle.

“Getting kids active with their families in the great outdoors is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle,” says Bill Bennett, Minster of Community and Rural Development. “It’s great to see Husky Energy and Resorts of the Canadian Rockies continuing to lead a program that promotes outdoor recreational activity among our youth, and making skiing and snowboarding available to all Grade 2 students in our province.”

For the 2009-10 ski season, the Husky Grade 2 FunPass™ program provides eligible children with a Husky RCR Rockies Grade 2 Pass; good for season pass privileges at Fernie Alpine Resort, Kimberley Alpine Resort, and Nakiska Ski Resort.

“Skiing and snowboarding are some of the best activities that families can enjoy together,” says Matt Mosteller, Marketing & Sales VP for Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. “Minister Bennett played a pivotal role as he and the BC Liberals lead the country in getting kids active and healthy in British Columbia. It helps to have his support, as he understands how important it is to get kids and families to enjoy the great outdoors. This program promotes a healthy, active, outdoor lifestyle at a young age, by giving Grade 2 students the opportunity to try the sport for free for an entire season. We are always excited to introduce a new generation of skiers and riders to the sport.”

To qualify for the Husky Grade 2 FunPassTM program, children must be in Grade 2 (or born in 2002) and living in British Columbia or Alberta.  A copy of a birth certificate, current Grade 2 report card, or last year’s Grade 1 report card, must be provided for a pass to be issued. There is a $20 processing fee for the pass, which is a saving of over $400 off a regular pass price for a child.

For more information about the Husky Grade 2 FunPass™ program please visit www.skircr.com/membership or call 1-800-258-7669 (SNOW).  Husky RCR Rockies Grade 2 Passes are available for purchase online at the aforementioned web address, at the RCR Calgary Office, and at any Western Canadian RCR resort including: Fernie Alpine Resort, Kimberley Alpine Resort, and Nakiska Ski Resort.
