Freestylers Push Limits In The Stash (19-Aug-09)
The Remarkables, New Zealand, August 19, 2009 - Freestyle skiers and riders have been enjoying the great snow
Freestyle skiers and riders have been enjoying the great snow conditions and sunshine at The Remarkables with shred-sessions in The Stash terrain park.
The Stash at The Remarkables is the only one of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and one of only five in the world – the other four are at Avoriaz, (France), Northstar-at-Tahoe (USA), Killington (Vermont) and Flachauwinkl (Austria).
The Stash concept was created by Jake Burton and the Burton team, using completely natural terrain to create freestyle snow park features, following the natural line of the mountain.
Ross Lawrence, Ski Area Manager, said he’s seeing more and more skiers and riders enjoying the parks at The Remarkables.
“It’s great to see so many people enjoying The Stash and the whole freestyle scene at The Remarkables, particularly at this time of the season when the snow is softening and many are more confident to try new things,” he said.
“Our terrain parks provide a relaxed environment for skiers and riders to practice in, as well as bigger features which attract those at a competitive level to train on.”
The Stash at The Remarkables is a one kilometer-long run which can be accessed via the Sugar Bowl lift. The Remarkables also boasts the Dirty Dog Terrain Park and the Tararua Real Iced Coffee Beginner Park.
