Export 33 Parklife Invitational Rail Jam Brings The Mountain To Downtown Queenstown (02-Aug-09)

Queenstown, New Zealand, August 2, 2009 - Thirty specially-invited skiers and riders

Thirty specially-invited skiers and riders will join forces in a rail jam battle in downtown Queenstown for the 7th Annual Export 33 Parklife Invitational rail jam this week (August 7) starting at 6pm.

Snow will be trucked in from The Remarkables to Queenstown’s Earnslaw Park for this year’s Export 33 Parklife Invitational where the invited freestylers will compete on a special purpose-built stair feature in front of thousands of Friday-night downtown revellers.

Ross Lawrence, Ski Area Manager at The Remarkables, said the Export 33 Parklife Invitational is one of the top events in the winter calendar.

“The atmosphere is always buzzing as spectators enjoy a winter spectacular in downtown Queenstown. Skiers and riders play up to the crowds and always give them the snow action they are looking for in this exciting annual freestyle spectacular,” said Mr Lawrence.

“The athletes are well-known faces on the freestyle scene and compete for prize money and product from Export 33, The Remarkables, Parklife, Jagermeister, Quiksilver and Electric.”

Food, drinks and busting tunes from the original Sunshine Sound System and P. Diggs will keep the crowds warm and the Parklife Team will be strutting their latest tricks alongside some of New Zealand’s top skiers and riders.

The TNT Crew from The Remarks will be providing a pre-event demo by hitting some of the features, before the Export 33 Parklife Invitational qualifiers kick off. The entertainment goes on until about 10.30pm, and the event is free to all spectators.

“The Export 33 Parklife Invitational is a great event for all the family and brings a piece of the mountain to the city centre. So much work goes into it using a lot of different organisations from the scaffolding and The Remarks Terrain Park Crew putting it together, through to the delivery of the snow, the security and food.

“Complemented with some of the best freestyle talent in New Zealand, it is set to be one of the biggest events in the Queenstown snow calendar.”
