Excellent Racing Conditions Enhance Final Day Of K Cup Racing (27-Aug-08)

Mt Hutt, NZ, August 27, 2008 - Perfect conditions marked the final day of the K Cup Regionals

Perfect conditions marked the final day of the K Cup Regionals Alpine Race at Mt Hutt yesterday resulting in blistering times.

Athletes, aged from 11 -14, capitalised on the excellent racing conditions to record fast finishes in the Super G, Giant Slalom and Slalom events.

Mt Hutt Ski Area Manager Dave Wilson said a high calibre of athletes and great conditions enhanced the competition.
‘Excellent racing conditions, a blue sky day and some very talented athletes combined to produce some outstanding performances,” he said. “It truly was a fantastic day for competitors and spectators.”

Fastest times recorded were by Robert Armstrong (2:06.51) in the male K2 category and Samantha Kingston (2:05.78) in the female K2 category.

Robert races out of Whakapapa and Samantha is from Wanaka.

Mr Wilson said the event was a great one to watch for up and coming athletes within New Zealand.
