Electric Hip Attack Is Back! (11-Jul-10)

Snow Park NZ, New Zealand, Julu 11, 2010 - Snow Park NZ and Electric Eyewear

Snow Park NZ and Electric Eyeware have this year reunited to showcase a day of snowboard and freeski talent at the annual Electric Hip Attack scheduled for Saturday, July 17.

The free-to-enter jam style competition is open to both freeskiers and snowboarders of all ages and skill levels. Riders will be judged on style and amplitude and will be vying for a $2,000 cash prize pool and spot prizes.

“This is the only event of it’s kind in New Zealand and it continues our long standing relationship with Electric,” said Sam Lee, Snow Park NZ Operations Manager. “Excellent snow making conditions will ensure this year’s event will be the best yet.”

The hip is a feature that combines the iconic aspects of the Snow Park NZ halfpipe, quarterpipe and such features that have made Snow Park NZ the destination it is today.

‘The hip is built in a way to maximise amplitude, style and technique, making the event a great one for both competitors and spectators alike,” said Lee.

The Snow Park NZ music system will be pumping tunes all day to keep riders, competitors and spectators amped.

Following the jam, the top skiers and snowboarders will progress to the final where they will be required to perform a succession of tricks, selected by the riders.  The finalists will be eliminated one by one as the tricks get harder and more creative.

Prizegiving at the Woolshed Restaurant will follow the competition before the event relocates to the Revolver Bar in Queenstown for the after party.

The event is free to enter.  Registration starts at 9 am in the Snow Park Event Office, next to the Goods Retail shop. All ages and levels are encouraged to enter.
