The Burton Cattleman’s Replica Stairset feature is a 20 step flight of stairs and is an exact replica of the Village steps used for the one-night only Burton competition each July. The feature is now open for advanced skiers and snowboarders in the Mt Buller Parks and is an exciting new development for experienced terrain park riders.
Australia’s top snowboarders and thrill seekers are heading to Mt Buller this Saturday 16th July to line up for the 6th Annual Burton Cattleman’s Rail Jam competition.
An invitation-only who’s who of Australia’s top pro-riders will battle it out for over $7,000 cash and prizes in a one hour, action-packed expression session on Mt Buller's legendary Cattleman's Rail in the centre of the Village Square. Riders use the stair rail on the Cattleman’s staircase to perform a repertoire of tricks down 20 stairs on a steep 45 degree angle. The Cattleman’s Rail Jam event has been a highlight of Australia’s freestyle calendar since 2005 attracting world-class riders and a bumper crowd eager to see the adrenaline inducing show.

Last year’s winner Tom Pelley will defend his title against event veterans Jye Kearney and Robbie Walker on the rail to the cheers of the crowd and an international web audience. Beefing out the talented rider list for 2011 are Lance Rees, Harry Crean, Matt Sedunary, Mitch Williams, Pete Long, Michael Trotto, Jason Maxfield, Matt Galina and Jess Rich. Four wildcard entries will also join the line up earning a chance to compete through a qualification session on the newly opened replica rail at Mt Buller earlier that day.
To kick off the action-packed weekend Transfer Snowboard Magazine are holding a photo exhibition in the Après Bar at the Mt Buller Chalet Hotel showcasing iconic snow photos of the year along with a pictorial history of the Burton Cattleman’s Rail Jam.
When the snowboarding excitement finishes up on the rail, the buzz moves to the Kooroora Hotel for the MTV Snow Jam featuring top DJ’s and a vibe that will see the Mt Buller crowd partying into the small hours.
