Coca-Cola 'Tube My Ride' Ready To Roll (07-Jul-10)
Perisher, Australia, July 7, 2010 - The 2nd annual coca-cola
The 2nd Annual Coca-Cola Tube My Ride (TMR) competition is set to go
off this coming 31 July – 1 August. Skiers and snowboarders alike will
be given the chance to let their creative juices flow both on the
slopes and on camera while hitting features in The PlayStation
Slopestyle Park and, a new element to the contest this year, the
Superpipe at Front Valley.
Neil Thew, Public
Relations & Business Development Manager at Perisher, says, “On the
back of the success of last year’s event where we saw some very
creative and innovative entries, we’ve added the Superpipe into the
mix to give competitors a bit more scope.”
Competitors are required to film and edit a slick video of no more than
3 minutes with approved Launch Your Band music which will be hosted and
peer voted on Perisher’s Tube My Ride website and You Tube.
TMR provides a unique opportunity for creative skiers and boarders to
show off their skills and personalities both on and off the slope.
Contestants don’t have to be the best park and pipe riders in the world
to submit a winning entry; they just should express their innovative
side in a fun and entertaining video. They can take as many hot-laps as
they like to get it right and piece together multiple attempts to make
one masterpiece clip.
The competition is not intended to be a ‘Jackass’ style event, where
competitors push themselves to perform dangerous stunts that cause or
depict injury. “The idea is to create a clip featuring the Park and
Pipe, craftily cut and edited to music,” said Mr. Thew. “We won’t
accept entries that convey unacceptable behaviour.” He continued.
Coca-Cola and Perisher have teamed up again for this event as a fresh
replacement to the ‘Wild Winter Weekend’ that was held in Perisher for
20 years. The premise behind TMR was to come up with a new event
concept that was less impacting on the resort’s resources and also less
disrupting to its’ guests. “Often events held in the resort require us
to close terrain parks, runs or the Superpipe to the public until the
competition is over which can adversely affect visitor experiences,”
said Mr. Thew. “The Coca-Cola Tube My Ride allows us to hold an
engaging event without inconveniencing anyone,” continued Mr. Thew.
TMR contenders won’t have to film all of their video on the competition
days allocated, but are recommended to start early and allow a great
deal of time to prepare a winning entry. “However, on 31 July and 1
August Coca-Cola signage will be set up on the event sites, one of the conditions of entry is that each clip must show the sponsor’s logo somewhere in it,” said Neil.
Entries must be received no later than 15 August 2010 with the winner
set to be announced 31 August 2010. The skier or snowboarder with the
most votes by 31 August will receive $5,000 cash and a new PlayStation3.
