Canadian Ski Centre On Sale For A Dollar (28-Mar-10)

Mont Orford, Canada, March 28, 2010 - The assets and operating rights

The assets and operating rights of Mont Orford ski area in Quebec are on sale for one Canadian Dollar to anyone who wants to take over running the resort.

For $1, the buyer gets buildings, chairlifts and other equipment needed to run the ski centre, but the catch is that the new owner must firstly agree to run the currently heavy loss making ski hill and golf course until at least 2015, and place a $4-million deposit to guarantee they’re serious.

Mont Orford was established in 1941 and is currently government run. It operates eight lifts, including six chairlifts, two of them quad chairlifts. 85% of the 56 runs have snowmaking coverage.

A year-round multi-sports and leisure centre , the town of Magog (10 minutes drive) contains many more facilities. It is located 150 kilometres east of Montreal.
