Boost Mobile Sno Sho Presented By LG: 28-29th August! (24-Aug-09)

Perisher, Australia, August 24, 2009 - Want a chance to mix it up with some of the world's best

Want a chance to mix it up with some of the world's best riders?  Think you've got what it takes to slide the World's Longest Rail? Or perhaps you're more interested in watching these world-class riders stomp big air tricks on Perisher's Front Valley as part of your annual visit to the snow.   Whatever your preference, make sure you lock in Friday 28th and Saturday 29th August 2009 as Australia's premier snowboarding event, the Boost Mobile SnoSho presented by LG, lights up Front Valley for the fifth consecutive year.

This year's Boost Mobile SnoSho presented by LG - a free spectator event - will be one of only two Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour endorsed snowboarding comps on Australian shores. The event will see a field of 23 invited riders plus two 'Wild Cards' compete for the chance to win up to $30,000 in cash and prizes.

Perisher, the epicentre of Australia's best freestyle snowboarding, will come alive as a hoard of riders converge on Front Valley including Aussie Boost Mobile Team Riders Mitch Allan (Berrara, NSW) and Jye Kearney (Jindabyne, NSW). "Stoked to hear that the Boost Mobile SnoSho is on again this year," said Jye Kearney. "It's an awesome setup and by far the biggest in Australia, I'll definitely be pushing hard to win the 25 grand!"

The action kicks off on Friday 28th August with the Wild Card event as crowds of eager snowboarders battle it out for one of two wild card positions and the chance to compete with the pros in the main event on Saturday evening. Featuring the 100m World's Longest Rail and a 45-minute Jam Session - including a huge acid drop into the big air - riders are allowed to push their skills to the limit without worrying about specific tricks as the judging is based on the Internationals Judges Commission - Overall Impression (OI) standard. The event is open to any experienced rider and is free to enter. Register your interest via email to

From 6pm on Saturday 29th August, the Boost Mobile SnoSho presented by LG will heat up as the temp drops with the two wild cards and 23 national and international pros going head-to-head in a unique night time competition. The World's Longest Rail contest will see the rider with the longest successful slide crowned 'King of the Rail' and win $5,000 prize money. Then it's time for the SnoSho Jam Session - a free-for-all format with each rider endeavoring to land the most technical tricks in an attempt to impress the judges.

The highlight of the weekend is without a doubt the gameshow style Final in which the six top scoring riders perform tricks randomly selected from a spinning gameshow wheel. With each successful trick the judges award a letter and the first rider to complete five tricks and spell the word B-O-O-S-T takes out the Boost Mobile SnoSho Winners title and the $15,000 winner-takes-all cash. This unique format always provides a dramatic conclusion to one of Australia's biggest snowboarding events.

Heading up the international contingent of riders at this year's Boost Mobile SnoSho presented by LG is the winner of the 2008 event and current world number two, Chas Guldemond (USA), who'll return to Australian shores to defend his title. Canadian rider Charles Reid will also make a welcome return. Reid slid into the record books at last year's SnoSho, taking out the World's Longest Rail with an impressive 54.80 metre slide.
