5cm And More On The Way (26-Apr-09)

Perisher, NSW, April 29, 2009 - The first snow of 2009 has arrived at Perisher...

The first snow of 2009 has arrived at Perisher! About 5cm of fresh snow has fallen in the Village (which sits at 1,720 metres) overnight transforming the landscape into a wintry paradise and the snow continues to fall.

Temperatures dropped to as low as -5°C allowing the snow to settle and accumulate. The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting scattered snow showers to continue throughout the rest of today and into Monday and Tuesday.

Coupled with positive long-range weather forecasts, this snowfall has raised hopes of a good season ahead. Respected long-range weather forecast site www.holtonweather.com.au has recently released its predictions suggesting above average snowfalls for winter with up to 3.9 metres in August alone.

A positive sign for snow holidaymakers!
