400 Acres Of New Terrain At Bear Valley (10-Nov-10)

California’s Bear Valley ski area will add 400 acres of new terrain this winter..

California’s Bear Valley ski area will add 400 acres of new terrain this winter. The resort is one of the few worldwide and the only area in California expanding their ski terrain for 2010-11. The new ski sector is located on the sunny southern slope of the main ski area, accessible via the Kuma and Koala chairs, and features intermediate and advanced terrain.

Skiers and riders that take advantage of the new area will have an opportunity to ride, slide or thrill- seek through challenging glades and chutes. Once at the bottom, a convenient shuttle will drive them back to the chairlift at base lodge. With over 1,680 acres of skiable terrain, Bear Valley is now the seventh-largest ski resort in the state.

"Bear Valley continues its commitment to provide our guests with the best terrain, grooming and services in the Sierra. This season is no exception; we've pulled out all the stops to offer 400 new acres and 12 new trails that will provide intermediate and advanced skiers and riders with a new and exciting adventure," said Jim Gentling, general manager of Bear Valley Mountain. "All summer long we've been busy getting Bear Valley ready for the winter, and our new acreage is going to make this one of our best seasons ever."
