A Magic Meter Of Snow Falls Naturally At Mt Buller! (10-Aug-08)

Mt Buller, VIC, August 10, 2008 - A recent cold snap has dumped 20 centimeters

A recent cold snap has dumped 20 centimeters of fresh, dry snow on Mt Buller bringing the natural average snow depth past the magic one-meter mark!

With snowfall expected as low as 400m today, Mt Buller is experiencing the best conditions to date for the 2008 winter season, with all lifts, all runs and all terrain parks open.

“Our snow depth and coverage around the resort is the highest it’s been since 2004, and certainly the second highest it’s been at this time of year in the last ten years,” said Laurie Blampied, general manager, Buller Ski Lifts.

Today’s chilly top temperature of minus three degrees and overnight temperatures reaching as low as minus five means there is extensive snow cover across the entire resort.

Weather forecasts over the next couple of days show continued cold temperatures and further snow showers expected until Friday, with up to 10 cm predicted to fall at Mt Buller in the next 24 hours.

Skiers, snowboarders and snow players are reveling in the fantastic conditions and enjoying what is promising to be a long and outstanding 2008 snow season.
